The Activities in the Women’s Health Empowerment 2

 

 

 

Organized by the Center, Sheikh Mohammed Hussien Al-Amoudi Center of Excellence in Breast Cancer the activities of “Women’s Health Empowerment 2" under the title "How to Protect Myself from Breast Cancer in the Future” it is held a few days before the World Cancer Day which is celebrated on 4th of February of each year. H.E. Prof. Mahmoud bin Shaheen Al-Ahwal, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah grace the activity on Thursday, 30th January 2014 at the Main Auditorium at King Abdulaziz University Hospital which included many of the paragraphs and distinct value.

 

The start of the ceremony was by creative and media, Mr. Adel Pflh who welcomed all attendees, followed by reading of verses from the Holy Quran and then welcome remarks by Her Excellency Dr. Samia Al-Amoudi CEO of the Center who commended the Honor of H.E. Prof. Mahmoud bin Shaheen Al-Ahwal for his efforts to support and success of Women’s Health Empowerment Project and then Dr. Samia welcomed all male and female students and all who come after clarification of the concept of empowerment and its relevance in health community service.

 

Followed by Prof. Mahmoud bin Shaheen Al-Ahwal welcome speech and a tribute to the efforts exerted by Dr. Samia Al-Amoudi, her enthusiasm and ideas and as a commissioner for her outstanding achievements which have become distinct. And he delivered a speech urging students, and guidelines on the importance of empowerment. The right to take a decision where his mother is a patient cured itself, without interference, and the importance of the early detection of breast The View and he wish all success of the lectures in the forum useful and valuable for the audiences.

 

Then it was the honoring of the speakers at the forum: Dr. Bassem Jamal, Dr. Susan Kafi, Ms. Leana Almoaina, as well honoring and thanking Prof. Mahmoud bin Shaheen Al-Ahwal.

 

After that, Dr. Samia Al-Amoudi gave a lecture entitled "Debunk the Myths World Day 2014" which is about the importance of human rights culture, which came to the subject of health empowerment.  She also narrated her inspiring story and how she suffered from cancer and how she overcome the disease and highlighted the importance of breast self-examination workshops to teach breast self-examination for youth and young women to spread the message in the community to both women and men who also has 1 % of the proportion chance to have breast cancer and clarified that the fundamental problem in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the problem of community awareness. The problem of the culture of a people who have not been aware of the importance of early detection to now women’s health and empowerment is the only way of protection and prevention of breast cancer.

 

Then Dr. Susan Kafi gave a lecture entitled "Hormones and Breast Cancer," which spoke of hormones and their relationship with breast cancer and the impact of its uni- dimensional ones which may be of the causes of this disease and how to prevent them.

 

Followed by a lecture from Ms. Leana Almoaina entitled "Lifestyle, Diet and Exercise” on cancer prevention in general and focused on the health of women in sports and emphasis on the movement and exercise regularly and to follow a diet which contribute to the reduction of symptoms of disease and help in physical and mental health. Confirming the importance of sport and the importance of the implementation of the sports programs and hiking activities.

 

After that, Dr. Bassem Jamal gave a lecture on "Smoking and Risk of Breast Cancer," he narrated the history of smoking and control. Tobacco companies and expansion after the First World War and through propaganda advertisements of doctors and others, and the extent of the wars that took place between companies and between scientists research on smoking and cancer that is continuing until this day and directing them to women in every aspect of life and provided them some statistics on the proportion of rooms of children, as well as the proportion of the deceased because of smoking and confirms that quitting is the best way to prevent cancer ..

 

The activities of the Forum, which took place in this year under the slogan of (How to Protect Myself from Breast Cancer in the Future) has concluded a number of recommendations for the role of enhanced health empowerment, while the participants attending the forum through their discussions importance of these lectures in raising the level of awareness of the members of the society in general and women in particular.

 

At the end was Dr. Samia Al-Amoudi honoring all employees in the center who contributed to the success of the Forum and thanked them for their best effort in order to achieve empowerment.
