EVALUATION OF OCCLUSAL - VALVE VENT AS A NEW TECHNIQUE FOR FULL CAST CROWN

Document Language : English
Abstract : The objective of this work is introducing and evaluate a new technique of internal cement vent, which is called occlusal valve vent, instead of occlusal hole vent which has many advantage. 1 - A separate step is required to fill the vent hole. 2- The repair of occlusal venting with pins, amalgam, gold foil or composite. 3- Chances for leakage around the sites of such repair. To determine the venting effect of the occlusal valve on the cement thickness. A total of ten cast full crowns on the ivorine dies were prepared and divided into two groups. Group I: Cast crowns with occlusal valve cement vent. Group II: Non vented cast crowns. The mean valve of the occlusal cement film thickness was used to determine the vertical discrepancy or lack of seating of the crown on the dies. The measurements were recorded from the micrometer microscope. Statistical analysis of the data revealed that occlusal valve vent produced a significant reduction in the mean of occlusal cement thickness during cementation.
