Abstract : This study was carried out on 20 male subjects ,with age ranged between 35-45 years and were divided into 2 groups: Group I: Consisted of 10 patients with adult periodontitis (Russell's index score 6) treated with scaling and root planing, oral hygiene instructions and periodontal surgery (flap operation) Group II: Consisted of 10 subjects with clinical normal gingival (Russell's index score 0) severed as a control -Gingival crevicular fluid was collected from all the groups before and after treatment for measuring fibronectin level by using enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) -The result of the present study showed a statistical significant decrease in the level of fibronectin in the groupI before treatment when compared to the control group -Although there is an increase in the level of fibronectin in the groupI after treatment, yet no statistical significant difference was detected as compared to the same group before treatment. -Statistical significant decrease in the level of fibronectin was found in the group I after treatment as compared to the control group.
