Abstract : Management and prevention of dental trauma is an integral part of the medical services provided at major athletic events. Mouth guards play an important role in reduction of the prevalence of dental and temporo-mandibular (TMJ) changes and/or injuries in contact sports specially boxers. All types and effective, but those which are closely adapted to teeth i.e. (custom-made are the best retained, most comfortable and therefore best accepted by sports people). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of custom-made mouth protector in reduction of TMJ injuries in a group of boxing player by (1) corrected lateral tomography and (2) single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).
